本作品以“沙漏”造型来表现环境保护中水土流失现象的现状和实施规划后的改善状况，将《全国水土保持规划（2015--2030年）》比作翻转水土流失沙漏的“力量”。整个数据图用两个方向相对的沙漏来对应展示数据，使得数据间的联系性和逻辑性更为紧密。整体以“森林绿”为主色调，辅以“沙土黄”作为对比色调来帮助表达水土流失造成的影响。此外，用色块描绘扁平化的“沙漠景观”和“绿地景观”能给人更直观的感受。
